Joy Gosney was born in Yorkshire, raised in Lincolnshire, relocated to both London and Brighton and is now based in Nottinghamshire. She gained her BA in Illustration from the University of Kingston in 1999 and has been practicing extensively in that field throughout her career.

Working in acrylic paint and often combining elements of mark making using oil pastel, Joy's painting has focused on the rhythm of landscape, which often emerges organically from abstract mark making, and often elicits a deep emotional connection with viewers.

She was recently selected for this year’s Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. She works from her painting studio in the garden of her home on the outskirts of the market town of Newark on Trent.
