The Gallery Grand Opening

The Gallery Grand Opening

We celebrated our Grand Opening on Sunday 1st September with a wonderful afternoon of art, conversation and music. An enormous thank you to everyone who came along and supported The Gallery as we welcomed the community through our doors for the first time. It was a great success, with a brilliant turnout, and we cannot wait to host more events in the future.

We were lucky enough to have eight of the exhibiting artists with us for the afternoon, chatting with guests about their work and connecting with art enthusiasts. Joy Gosney, Liliana Dobbs, Louise Craigie, Madeleine De Angelis, BRT, Catherine Wynne-Powell and Simon Bosworth joined us, along with our very own resident artist and owner, Joanna Milne.

It was so lovely to receive such positive feedback about the art and curation, and we look forward to providing a vibrant and creative space for the people (and dogs) of Essex.

The Mayor, Andrew Lay, very kindly accepted our invitation to the opening ceremony, where he, along with Joanna Milne, said a few words to mark the occasion. He then led the ribbon cutting and officially declared The Gallery open. Within Joanna’s speech she, of course, had to thank a number of individuals who were paramount in making The Gallery what it is today. Among the names mentioned were Luke Wait, of D.J. Wait & Son, for executing Joanna’s vision for the renovations, together with Dave Blackman, carpenter Paul Morrell, Adam Collins at Ace Electricals, Matt at West One Wood Flooring and James at Crisp Design for the logo. A big thank you went out to Jonathan, Joanna’s husband, for his constant and unwavering support – both practical and emotional! And a huge thank you to Shay, of Shay Studio, for creating the beautiful website, and writer, Alex Summer Milne for the content.

On the day, we were very fortunate to have the incredibly talented saxophonist, Caron Robinson and brilliant DJ Milny for providing the live music, Ibiza beats. Hannah Phipps Photography captured the event perfectly, and Celine’s Homemade Bakes provided us with delicious branded cupcakes for the occasion.

So, it’s safe to say a great time was had all round.

Joanna would like to extend her sincerest thanks to the enormous support she has received from the local community, the artists, family, friends, and everyone who has made the opening of The Gallery possible over the last 10 months.

We hope you enjoy visiting The Gallery - we are delighted to share this space with you all.
